Looks to me like the Dolans can no longer stop DirecTV from broadcasting out of market Sabres games in HD. Let me know if you read it differently.

I hope you're right, because this impacts me greatly, but I actually do read this differently. The way I read it is that broadcasters must make programming available to all on an equal footing. MSG is doing that - basically saying that if you "don't pay more, none of you get broadcast MSG HD" in packages like NHL Center Ice. I think they still have the right to do that, even if I/we think it is insanity for them to force people to watch on other networks from their own.

For anyone that has DirecTV (me included), this ruling should definitely mean that they have "won" over ComCast and will be able to start showing Versus again. I don't think it will impact MSG HD, but for Versus on DirecTV, I do.

DirecTV showed a Devils MSG game last night in HD. They have the Rangers MSG game showing up in the guide tonight in HD. No official word on anything yet, but if the pattern persists perhaps this longstanding pissing contest has finally come to an end!

Some of this is moot because Versus is back on DirecTV and MSG HD is back on NHL Center Ice on DirecTV. And this ruling had nothing to do with either case.

What this ruling does impact is the availability of MSG HD on other providers like FiOS and Dish Network. For Sabres fan with Dish or FiOS this ruling is very good.
