He was asked if he could pick three people to join him for dinner, who would they be... Tiger Woods, Cam Neely and Todd Bertuzzi.

Numbskull.

Sabres can write his bio now for the media guide.

Favorite movie: Dumb and Dumber

Favorite food: Steak

etc.

Do I hate the pick?  No.  I haven't seen much of him, but I don't see him as much of a game breaker.  Kulikov could also have been the pick here, but I think this is more of a statement to the fans rather than taking the best player available.  He could be Ryan Getzlaf or Wayne Primeau, I guess we'll find out.

Wow....I cannot believe we finally drafted this kinda guy...

Thank God...many of the scouts said he is a Milan Lucic type player, but he is ahead of where Lucic was at his age...

sounds like a great pick for the Sabres...

Good, I've been missing the spin-o-rama since Soupy left!

I'm glad that they took him and agree that there was definitely a message in that pick.  As I said before, he could end up being "just" a Goose or possibly Mair type player or he could be a Getzlaf.  What he won't be is an undersized, finesse third-liner.

Not just a great pick it was the only pick. What the Sabres need to do now is follow it up and not let it be a stand alone move like the Rivet deal. Make this move just one talking point of a successful off-season.

He listed his favorite player as Cam Neely and his favorite website as dropyourgloves.com

I don't think he has the kind of makeup that would lead to this...

Darcy shakes hands with his right hand and covers the other person's hand with his left hand. Who could have guessed! Shocking! Also gotta love Darcy's metrosexual frames. Probably twitters with LQ's optician.

I'm shocked and very happy at the same time.  I still believe the worst case scenario is that Kassian ends up being a 3rd line terror.  Best case...Scoring line winger who plays with a mean streak.   As far as I know, there is currently no one on the Sabres roster or in the system who comes close to Kassian's attributes.

GREAT PICK!!!!!!

It was definitely the best pick with the way things played out (pretty much as expected).  My main concern is if he takes forever to develop.  Now let's see how the rest of this thing plays out.

If he turns into the player I hope he is, I might have a new man crush.

Yes, I am THAT desperate for a physical presence on this team.

Sabres gain size with first round selection
June 27, 2009

Quote

Portland, ME The Buffalo Sabres made a big statement with their first round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft being held in Montreal on Friday night.

The Sabres selected Zack Kassian with the 13th overall pick and by doing so have instantly upgraded their size at the forward position.

I can honestly say that I know nothing of Zach Kassian.  Even though he has the size now, at only eighteen, when would be the earliest we could expect to see him playing as a Sabre?
